Affiliate link
An affiliate link is a tracking link carrying a code that identifies the site which sent you, so the platform can pay that site a commission if you register or spend after clicking. Most review, ranking and comparison pages in this category use them, which is why a disclosure line usually sits near the button.

Where you see it
You meet one when you press a Visit site or Join free button on a comparison page, and the address bar flashes through a tracking domain for a moment before the platform's own page loads.
Why it matters
It means the page recommending a platform has a financial interest in the click, so treat a ranking as one view and check the platform yourself. The redirect hop also makes an affiliate link look much like the redirects scam pages use, so confirm the domain that finally loads is the official one before you type anything into it.
