Email alias
An email alias is a secondary address that forwards to your real inbox. You give the alias to the platform at sign-up, mail still arrives where you read it, and the platform never records the address you use for everything else. Some mail providers and forwarding services generate these on demand.

Where you see it
At the sign-up field, and afterwards in the settings of the mail provider where the alias lives, which is where forwarding can be switched off without touching the account it was created for.
Why it matters
It does two useful things: platform marketing and any future breach are attached to a string you can disable, and adult-platform mail stays out of your main inbox and its search results. It is not a second identity - the card and the name on it are unchanged, so it does nothing for the billing layer. Losing access to the alias can also lock you out, because password resets are sent there.
