Account deletion
Account deletion is the platform-side process of permanently closing an account and removing the profile, screen name and saved settings attached to it. It is not the same as logging out, and on many sites it is not the same as deactivating, which only hides the account while keeping it recoverable.
Where you see it
It normally sits at the bottom of account, security or privacy settings, and on some platforms there is no button at all - the only route is a written request to support, which can take days to process.
Why it matters
Deletion does less than most people expect. Payment and transaction records are usually kept for accounting reasons, moderation history may be retained, and an unspent token balance is commonly forfeited rather than refunded. Deleting the account also does not always end a subscription, so cancel the recurring charge first and confirm it has stopped before you close anything.
