Trial offer
A trial offer is a short introductory period, free or at a reduced price, that opens up a paid tier and then converts to the standard recurring charge automatically unless you cancel before it ends. The card details taken at signup are what make that conversion automatic.

Where you see it
It arrives as a banner or an upgrade prompt with the trial length in large type and the price it converts to, plus the renewal interval, in smaller type underneath.
Why it matters
A trial is the opening period of a subscription rather than a separate product, so the moment to act is the start, not the end. Note the conversion date and find the cancellation route when you sign up, because the trial window is the whole of your opportunity to stop the first full charge.
